This bank is below a large lawn and above a children's playground.  It sits beside a path that runs from the house to the vegetable garden.  It is visible from the entertaining patio at the back of the house and also from the entry driveway so it was important that it looked good from all these angles.  Old rhododendrons were cleared from the site and the area planted up, by chance, during the Beast from the East.  Miraculously, most of the plants survived that beast, only suffering from a bit of rabbit damage.  These photos are taken the first summer after planting.
